How the Greek Guatemala Orthodox Christian Foundation handles gifts, information, and photographs.

Who we are

The Greek Guatemala Orthodox Christian Foundation is an Arizona nonprofit corporation based in Florence, Arizona, formed to support the Orthodox Christian parishes and clergy of Guatemala. The IRS has recognized the foundation as a tax-exempt public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, effective June 24, 2026. Our EIN is 42-4391059.

Donations

Gifts are processed by Stripe, which handles card and bank payments on our behalf; we never see or store your card number. You will receive an emailed receipt for every gift. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law; no goods or services are provided in exchange for your gift. A copy of our IRS determination letter is available on request.

Designated gifts

When you give toward a specific item, church, or clergyman, we treat that designation as a restriction on your gift and apply it as you asked. Purchases are made in Guatemala, where materials and labor cost far less than shipping items from the United States. If a designated need is fully met, or an item can no longer be obtained, we will use your gift for the nearest equivalent need and, where we have your email, tell you what was done. Gifts to the General Fund are used wherever the need is greatest.

Inscriptions and photographs of installed items

Donors who ask for a name to be inscribed on an item they have given will have it inscribed as requested, subject to the practical limits of the item. Donors of a temple, or of a cross with the crucified Christ, will receive photographs of the installed item and its location. Photographs are sent after the next visit to that parish and may take several months.

Refunds and monthly gifts

Donations are generally not refundable. If a gift was made in error, or the amount was entered incorrectly, contact us within 30 days and we will correct it. Monthly gifts may be changed or cancelled at any time through the link in your receipt, or by contacting us.

Your information

We collect the name and email you provide when giving or writing to us, and use them only to send receipts, answer your questions, and share news of the parishes you have helped. We do not sell or share donor information. Payment information is handled by Stripe underStripe's privacy policy.

If you sign up for our newsletter, your email address is kept by MailerLite, which sends it for us underMailerLite's privacy policy. Every newsletter has a link to unsubscribe.

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We measure visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or identify individual visitors. Your gift selections are remembered in your own browser until you complete or clear them.

Photographs on this site

The photographs on this site were taken during visits to the parishes with the knowledge of the clergy, and are used with the permission of the diocese. We do not name children in photographs. If you or a family member appear in a photograph and would prefer it not be used, write to us and we will remove it.

Volunteers and pilgrims

Clergy, chanters, iconographers, catechists, skilled laborers, and pilgrims who wish to serve in Guatemala should contact us first. We coordinate dates with Bishop Osios and his clergy so that visits serve the parishes rather than burden them. Travel, lodging, and insurance are the responsibility of each volunteer unless otherwise arranged.
